We believe that food justice is an important part of community justice. Our vision is for a sustainable future where food waste no longer exists; in the meantime, whenever we hear of a local farmer who has surplus produce, our East Kent Gleaning Group will do our bit to help ensure this food reaches good causes.
As well as distribution to our local community beneficiaries, our hub works in collaboration with food redistribution charity; The Felix Project, who deliver surplus food to charities and schools in London, so they can provide healthy meals and help the most vulnerable in our society.
East Kent Gleaning Group aims to organise and facilitate pop-up community food events and related activities, which fulfil our overall mission of repurposing surplus fruit and vegetables for the benefit of local people.
We’re constantly exploring new ideas for how we can further expand our impact in the community, and how we can continue the fight against food waste and food poverty. We’re always open to initiatives that promote co-production.
Our mission is to transform food waste into community feasts!
Since 2012, FEEDBACK’s Gleaning Network has rescued thousands of tonnes of good quality fruit and vegetables from going to waste on farms around the UK and through the activity itself, has brought together thousands of local volunteers of all ages and walks of life.
